Select improved varieties for summer groundnut

Select improved varieties for summer groundnut

Summer groundnuts are sown from January 15 to February 15; should be done in between. Sowing will be delayed "so on; yield declines. "For sowing; Generally 100 to 125 kg of seed per hectare is sufficient. Improved "varieties" should be selected for cultivation which are more productive and resistant to pests and diseases.

Groundnut is known as a major oilseed crop. Groundnut is a leguminous plant that spreads through the land underground and increases soil fertility.

Therefore It helps in crop change and improving the soil texture, so it is necessary to cultivate the summer groundnut crop in an improved manner. Groundnut production during the Kharif season is mainly dependent on rainwater.

Kharif season crop is more susceptible to pests and diseases. Therefore, the productivity of summer groundnut is higher as compared to Kharif season. The heat and abundant sunlight of the summer season favors the groundnut crop. Cultivation of groundnut as an inter-crop in orchards and in places where irrigation is available is beneficial.

*_๐ŸฅœImportant Factors to Increase Productivity :_*

◆Selection of improved varieties with high productivity and resistance to pests and diseases for planting.

  ◆Proper use of certified seed.

◆Maintain expected number of plants per hectare.

◆Seed treatment, fertilizers, bacterial culture, balanced use of micronutrients.

◆Timely weeding, disease and pest control.

  ◆Proper irrigation management.

the land soil should be medium to light flat, with good water drainage and sand, lime and organic substance containing should be selected for cultivation.

*_๐ŸฅœWeather :_*

◆This crop is a crop of hot and temperate tropics, a lot of sunlight and warm weather is useful in terms of crop growth.

◆ Temperature between 27 and 30 degree Celsius is suitable for physical growth.

*_๐Ÿฅœ pretreatment :_*

◆Soil should be soft and frowning for proper growth of groundnut roots, sub-roots and root nodules as well as good feeding of pods.

For that, the land should be cultivated well. 15 to 20 cm depth of soil with bullock or tractor

Plow should be done. Excessive plowing should be avoided. Because too deep plowing causes pods to form in deeper soil layers. This makes harvesting of pods difficult.
